The hamlet of Himeville lies nestled at the foot of the Southern Drakensberg, its high altitude, heavy snowfalls and climatic extremes possibly the initial reason for its relative neglect. But the breathtaking scenery, abundance of water and the Himeville and Underberg district’s reputation as a fly fishing mecca, now make it an attractive alternative to the busier parts of the 'berg'.

Premier Hotel Himeville Arms
The Premier Hotel Himeville Arms is situated in the Southern Drakensberg. Nestled below the towering Drakensberg Mountains. With its Old English charm and decor opened in 1904 and still reflects its 20th Century origins. From the “ye olde English” architecture and antique furniture to the modern day conveniences and friendly staff, Premier Hotel Himeville Arms provides a journey and a destination. It is the ideal base from which to explore the Southern Drakensberg, and caters
for both individual and family travellers alike. It’s a well renowned stop over for overnight accommodation and an evening in the atmospheric pub which features a wonderful menu and craft beer from The Old Main Brewery (OMB).

Seaforth Country Lodge
Nestled deep in the mountains of the Southern Drakensberg, at the foot of the spectacular Sani Pass, lies Seaforth Farm which forms part of a conservancy that borders the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site. Seaforth Country Lodge is an original 100-year-old stone farm house that is situated 15 km from Himeville and 20 km from Underberg.

The beautiful old farm house is built of local stone and was recently restored. The house is positioned on a rise, overlooking the Mkomazana River valley and a dam. From every window there are magnificent views across the formal gardens to the little and main 'berg'. The large verandas and courtyard invite you to relax with a book or a sundowner. The lounge has a fireplace and we have a well-stocked honesty bar and a pool table. The dining room has the most spectacular views of the 'berg'. All rooms have underfloor heating and two have their own fireplaces for the chilly winter months. Two farm cottages have been refurbished and decorated to serve as superb self-catering accommodation.

Unwind from the stress of city life in these peaceful surroundings. Enjoy abundant bird life, indigenous game, waterfalls, the river and trout dam and tranquil mountain views. Seaforth is the ideal base for tours up the Sani Pass and to Lesotho, as well as fly-fishing, hiking and discovering rock art. We also have a team of qualified massage and beauty therapists to add that little extra to your stay. Be sure to visit the ‘highest pub in Africa’ on the Sani Pass and let the children feed our pigs, geese and goats. Upon prior arrangement, the neighbours welcome visitors to explore a dairy farm with 300 milk cows or to see honey bees in action.
