The town of Ulundi, in the heart of Zululand, is set among majestic hills and the rugged valleys of the White Umfolozi River. The former capital of the Zulu Kingdom, Ulundi straddles Route 66, between Nongoma and Melmoth.

Owen’s Camp offers comfortable, fully catered accommodation for up to 20 people in 10 well-appointed rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. A full English breakfast is served and DStv is available in the lounge. Lunch and supper can be arranged at an additional cost, with laundry services also available at reasonable prices.

The camp lies at the centre of the 23,000-hectare eMakhosini-Opathe Heritage Park, a candidate for World Heritage Site status. It is a landscape unique in world terms and is the resting place of seven illustrious Zulu kings.

Bird life is abundant and several species of game, including White rhino, have been re-introduced to the park to return it to its former glory. Guests can enjoy guided walks in the park and can, quite literally walk with giraffe.

Phumzinyawo Lodge is located in the small town of Ulundi, also know as the the heartbeat of Zululand.

Guests are accommodated in traditional rondavals with an African-chic inspired interior, while unobstructed valley views complete the unique setting.

From the lodge you have a clear view of the hills of Ulundi to King Cetshwayo's kraal. What was an ominous area is now a journey through the footsteps of a great Zulu king. The closest tourist attractions are; The Spirit of Emakhosini, Ophathe Game Reserve, Umfolozi Hluhluwe
Game Reserve and the King Cetshwayo museum.
