Towering mountains and rolling plains welcome you to Karoo National Park in the Western Cape. This park is part of the largest ecosystem in the country - the Great Karoo, a renowned fossil deposit of high importance. Today, visitors will find abundant birdlife, plenty of other interesting creatures and typical Great Karoo semi-desert landscapes.
The Karoo National Park has a wide variety of endemic wildlife including the Black Rhino, Buffalo and over 20 breeding pairs of Black Eagle representing one of the highest densities in Africa. Springbok are also present in high numbers - a reminder of the once vast herds that traversed the Karoo on annual migration.
